Rene Collins

Known for her bold colors and exclusive use of the painting knife.

Being creative is a part of Rene...for as long as she can remember. From a home filled with creativity, a mother who painted using quilts and knitting and a father who understood and appreciated the palette of nature... four siblings, each with their own artistic strength.

Discovering the painting knife was pivotal to the growth of her work. With the simple act of mixing paint with her knife, a creative process was unleased and the artist within was freed. Rene allowed this journey to find its own path: showing the appreciation of light and color - giving her the confidence to find her own way. Deliberate, strong strokes and contrasting feather-light wet on wet has become her style and trademark.

Rene has attracted widespread international attention to her artistry. Her work has been exhibited in galleries across Canada. She has been the recipient of several awards for her work and is known as one of Saint John's favorite artist.

Rene and her husband Stan presently resides in Saint John, N.B
