Octavio Ribeiro

Octavio Ribeiro was born in Nairobi,Kenya and was educated in England and Canada.He studied Fine Arts and Education at the West of England College of Art in Bristol,England, and Art History and English Literature at Carleton University ,Ottawa. Ribeiro works mainly in oils,watercolours and mixed media,and he is particularly interested in human figure and floral studies,cityscapes,and interiors.He has exhibited in group shows at the Royal West of England Academy, and at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery.His work has also been shown at the Ring Gallery,the Trinity Gallery,the Handworks Gallery, the Citadel Gallery,the Arts Centre the Imperial Theatre,and the Regional Library,all in Saint John.Some paintings were also exhibited by Gallery 78 in Fredericton.

Ribeiro's work can be found mostly in private collections in Europe,the United States and Canada.He has the honour of having two oil paintings in the collection of Reuben Cohen whose collection has been considered the best in Atlantic Canada.

Ribeiro is happy to make his home in Saint John.
