Mark McDevitt

Mark McDevitt was born and raised in Saint John, NB. He now resides in Quispamsis, NB with his family. He and his wife have always enjoyed DIY, woodworking and planning projects together. Many date nights have been spent in the garage surrounded by sawdust.

Marks wood turning interest was sparked by a lathe that was spontaneously gifted by a co-worker. From there, Mark used the lathe to turn a bowl for his father-in-law using a generations old tree from his family's homestead. He was captivated and set his path, learning and honing his skills. Wood turning is now a passion that is his favourite activity. Each item begins with a piece of locally sourced or reclaimed wood, an idea, and the fun really begins when the wood reveals what is hidden inside. That hidden feature could be a beautiful grain pattern that accentuates the design or a blemish in the wood that requires a full design change. With precision, focus and patience each piece becomes a work of art and a source of great pride and joy.
