Patricia Tingley
Patricia Tingley is a New Brunswick artist based in Saint John.
She studied Fine Arts at Mount Allison University and the New School of Art in Toronto. Her work has included illustration and design and her paintings have been exhibited at the Saint John Arts Centre, the Imperial Theatre, UNB's Lorenzo Society, and Hooper Studios. Inspired by nature, she primarily works in watercolour with the addition of painted rice paper collage. Each piece begins with the challenge of creating some kind of life or conversation between possibly a rock, a branch, a leaf or piece of seaweed....whatever I've been drawn to and collected on a walk in the woods or along a beach. I have drawers filled with these chosen pieces from nature, endless inspiration.
From start to finish art making is an invitation, an exploration, a challenge and a journey to getting to a satisfying balance and a kind of peaceful resolution. What speaks to each of us is an individual mystery but every piece of art is an invitation to discover that connection and partake.
