Tell us a little bit about how you got started.
I got started in pottery in 1969. I had a little course at the local high school and it was like falling in love. It became a lifetime endeavour.
Do you remember the first piece you’ve ever sold?
Well I remember the first pieces I made. I made a teapot where the tea poured out of the spout before you finished filling the pot with hot water. (laughs)
What project are you working on right now?
Right now, I’m working on large handbuilt urns.
Where do you find ideas for your work these days?
Mostly, I find my ideas from Middle Eastern geometric designs for surface decoration.
What’s your biggest art world pet peeve?
Well I would say that “craft” is still considered separate from the “art world”. The amount of skill and creativity that is necessary to create pottery should give it a position in the continuum of the art world.
What is your motto?
Enjoy the dance of creativity.
Do you collect anything?
I collect pottery! I have the work of many potters
. What do you most value in your friends?
Love and their loyalty.
What is your most treasured possession?
It’s not a possession, but I would say it’s my family.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
My children.
What or who is the greatest love of your life?
My husband!!
