We experience love and loss, the trauma of war, the pain of emotional and physical abuse, the challenges of poverty and yet we are not broken by these. We may be bowed but not broken because we are resilient. We carry on, continually mindful of those who rely upon us – our children, our parents, our siblings, our partners. We may not have time to mourn, to seek compassion from others because we do what we must do. We are resilient and we know we will go on another day, doing what must be done.
