Adam Gavel

Adam Gavel, Fort McMurray Alberta CA

A self-taught artist who is following in the artistic footsteps of his father who studied art at St. Thomas University, as well as his sister who is a textile artist. He has had guided education from visual artist Sue Hooper and ceramic artist Allison Gayton.

Adam’s work is an expressionistic depiction of nature and landscapes focusing on the skies and the colors to their beauty. Adam tends to pull inspiration from life experiences, locations he’s visited using techniques to involve the viewers in his sunrises, sunset and landscapes. He leans towards a love of color especially in his depictions of the Northern Lights, sunsets and sunrises along the St John River and the Bay of Fundy.

He finds inspiration from artists like Tom Thompson, Frederick Varley, Jack Humphrey, Clarence Bourgoin and many others, who have focused their time on capturing the beauty of the Canadian landscape.
